Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Special Edition


Story

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life Special Edition is a port of the Gamecube game aWL, for the PlayStation 2 console. The PS2 game has a few enhancements added in:

  • You can marry Lumina
  • Your character's clothing color changes each season
  • There are different colors of horses you can get (the color is random)
  • A daughter child is available
  • The game doesn't end after the last chapter (similar to AWL)
  • Each chapter is 1 year long (40 days)
  • Crops, animals, trees, festivals, and so on are all the same as the Gamecube version.

Game Controls

Your configuration menu is at the bookshelf in the lower-right corner inside of your house. If you turn off the Button Guide, the buttons listed in the upper-right of your screen goes away but it also removes the clock.

  • Directional Pad: rotates your character clockwise (press right) or counter-clockwise (press left)
  • Left Analog Stick: move your character around; move the cursor when viewing a menu
  • Right Analog Stick: change the camera angle
  • X Button: confirm selections; proceed through conversation text
  • Square Button: open your rucksack ring menu
  • Circle Button: close open menus; cancel; put down an animal you've picked up
  • Start Button: opens your rucksack main menu
  • Select Button: opens the map of Forget-Me-Not Valley
  • Left Shoulder Button 1: move the camera view behind you; when your rucksack ring is open, moves left through item categories; when your rucksack main menu is open, pages to the left
  • Left Shoulder Button 2: whistles for your horse
  • Right Shoulder Button 1: puts the camera in first-person view, use the Left Analog Stick to move the camera; when your rucksack ring is open, moves right through item categories; when your rucksack main menu is open, pages to the right
  • Right Shoulder Button 2: whistles for your dog

Clothing

Your character's clothing color will change each season. You don't have to buy new outfits from Van and you can't control what color the clothing changes to. The change will happen on the first day of each season. Your wife can also change her clothing. The color and style of her clothing depends on the gender of your child. If you choose a boy, then your wife will keep her standard clothing color and style. If you choose to have a girl child instead, then your wife's clothing will change.

Lumina is a new bachelorette you can marry in aWL SE. Diary located in her living room on jewelry box. A villager needs to be in her room before you can go in and check your love status. Like Moon Ore, Toy Flower, Goddess Drop, Happy Lamp, Trick Blue, Amorous, Upseed, Gold Wool, Egg, Fertilized Egg.

  • 1 heart: Go to Mansion when Lumina playing piano (around 10:00 AM to noon). Rock, Sebastian and Romana are listening to her play. When she is finished Romana complements her but suggests that she can be a little more creative. After Romana leaves, Lumina confesses that she hasn't enjoyed playing the piano lately. She doesn't understand what Romana means by telling her to "play more freely". Choose "Just have more fun", Lumina wants to talk to your privately. Lumina feels better talking to you, and believe she can enjoy playing again.
  • 2 hearts: Go to Lumina's room when she in there inside (around 07:00 AM to 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM to 01:30 PM, or 08:00 PM to 10:00 PM). Lumina will be glad that you've come to visit her and asks if you would like to talk for a bit. Choose "With pleasure", she'll thank you and explain about the art book she looking at. You can choose "What kind of paintings are they?" or "Are they paintings of fires?"; either choice will be fine. Lumina will thank you for listening to her.
  • 3 hearts: After 07:00 PM go to Mansion. Sebastian has created a new menu and would like you to taste test it for him. He takes you towards the kitchen, but when you pass by Romana's room you hear some giggling from inside. Instead of following Sebastian, you stop to listen. Sebastian calls to you from the kitchen and scolds you for listening to the ladies. He takes you back into his kitchen and has you taste his dish. After tasting choose "Delicious!", Sebastian will be happy. He hopes that Romana and Lumina will enjoy eating it as well. The reason for his new dish was because of Lumina, she recently become so beautiful that he was inspired to do something new as well. Sebastian theorizes that Lumina must be in love and wonders who the lucky fellow is. He hopes that Lumina's first love goes well. Sebastian thanks you for helping him.
  • 4 hearts: After 07:00 AM go to Mansion. Lumina will catch you on the way out and ask you'd like to go to Beach with her. Choose "Sure" and the two of you go to Beach. Lumina will ask who was the first person you fell in love with. Choose "What about you?", Lumina explains that Romana told her that she was in love, but Lumina doesn't really understand it. She confesses that when she thinks of you, she feels a tightness in her chest. You're the only one in the valley that causes her to feel this way. Lumina asks you if she had a big brother, would he make her feel the same way, choose "I don't think so". Lumina realizes that she feels more for you than just brotherly affection, but the two of you are interrupted by Sebastian. Lumina tells you not to worry about what she's blubbering on about, and invites you to see her at Mansion again.

Once you complete the 4 heart events, you can give Lumina the blue feather. You won't actually live together until the end of the Beginning chapter, after Winter 10. When you go to the Villa to fetch Lumina, Romana reminds you that she's still in the middle of her "bride" training but Lumina says she'll be the best bride she can be. At the start of the next chapter, Lumina will be grown into an adult. Her toddler baby looks pretty much the same whether you chose to have a daughter or stayed with the default son. It is easier to tell the gender once the child grows to a kid stage, starting in chapter 3.

In aWL SE you can have a boy or a girl child, but by default it is a boy. If you want a girl child, you have to force it to occur. Go to Harvest Sprite's tree, in the back of the house are three white pots. Press X when in front of the middle pot to see a dialog prompt. Every 10 times you press X, the dialog changes.

  • 10: Something seems to be inside...
  • 20: The liquid inside is moving...
  • 30: That liquid looks weird...
  • 40: Wwh... whha... ...... you........
  • 50: ..................
  • 60: Who do you think you are? You're disturbing my sleep!
  • 70: Go away, or else...
  • 80: I thought I told you not to come back...
  • 90: You're... quite something...
  • 100: You... win...

After the talking jug concedes, talk to one of the sprites. The sprite will tell you that Mr. Pots is asking what your wish is. At this point you can choose the gender of your child (daughter or son). Once you have made your wish, you can't change your mind.
