General Information
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All is the second entry from Ace Attorney series. Known in Japan as 逆転裁判2 (Gyakuten Saiban 2 / lit. Turnabout Trial 2). It introduce new abilities for Phoenix Wright to help with his investigation.
The game first released for Game Boy Advance at Japan on 18 October 2002, under the name 逆転裁判2 (Gyakuten Saiban 2 / lit. Turnabout Trial 2). The game ported to Nintendo DS on 26 October 2006 & Windows in episodic format on 31 March 2006 at Japan. North America version of the game released for Nintendo DS on 16 January 2007, at Europe on 16 March 2007, and at Australia on 6 September 2007. WiiWare version was released on 26 January 2010 at Japan, on 15 February 2010 at North America, and on 19 February 2010 at Europe.
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All are set one year after Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. You following Phoenix Wright, defense attorney tackling cases to find the truth, by investigating crime scene, speak to people involved in the case, and cross-examine the witnesses. With Maya back as your assistant, you face off with Franziska von Karma, Manfred von Karma daughter, who come to seek revenge on you.
Gameplay
The game split into 2 modes, Trial mode and Investigation mode. And at any time you could access your Court Record, where your Evidence and Profiles are stored with more detailed information.
Trial mode where you defend your client on court trial.
- Health bar: Exclamation point from previous game are replaced by a blue health bar. Depending the risk involved, you'll lose more health on each mistake you made and you could see how much you'll lose by the glowing section on the bar. The health bar will remain the same through the episode and it could be recharge by successfully break Psyche-Lock. Once you lost all your health, your client will be declared 'Guilty' and game over.
- Cross Examination: Every witness testimony must be examined, either by pressing certain statement to get more information or presenting evidence to contradicting statement. Pressing generally safe from penalty until told otherwise and presenting wrong evidence or presenting at wrong statement will result on getting penalized.
Investigation mode where you looking around various places to gather evidences for next day trial.
- Examine: This mode allowing you to examine your surrounding (a.k.a background) to gather hint or get new evidence.
- Talk: Sometimes there's people on the area you're visiting and you could talk to them to get more information. The conversation topic will had red checkmark if you already talked about that topic.
- Present: Sometimes you need to present evidence to people to get more hint and presenting unrelated evidence won't cost health like in trial mode.
This game introduce new abilities, Psyche-Locks, starting at episode 2. Psyche-Locks will appear when people are lying or trying to hide something. Present the Magatama to the person to attempt breaking the lock followed by presenting evidence or clues to uncover the truth. Successfully breaking the Psyche-Lock will regain 50% of your health. If you running low on health, you automatically stop the process of breaking the Psyche-Lock and return to investigation with minimum amount of health.
