General Information
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy is a bundle contained a remastered version of the first three games of Ace Attorney series. Initially released as 逆転裁判123HD成歩堂龍一編 (Gyakuten Saiban 123 HD Naruhodou Ryuuichi Hen / lit. Turnabout Trial 123 HD: Ryuichi Naruhodo), the bundle later got renamed to 逆転裁判123成歩堂セレクション (Gyakuten Saiban 123 Naruhodou SEREKUSHON / lit. Turnabout Trial 123 Naruhodo Selection). The bundle contain Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations; it has graphical upgrades and slight adjustment to localized script.
The bundle first released for iOS and Android at Japan on 7 February 2012, under the name 逆転裁判123HD成歩堂龍一編 (Gyakuten Saiban 123 HD Naruhodou Ryuuichi Hen / lit. Turnabout Trial 123 HD: Ryuichi Naruhodo), and for world wide on 30 May 2013, under the name Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy HD. Nintendo 3DS version released at Japan on 17 April 2014, renamed to 逆転裁判123成歩堂セレクション (Gyakuten Saiban 123 Naruhodou SEREKUSHON / lit. Turnabout Trial 123 Naruhodo Selection), with limited edition including Drama CD. English version of Nintendo 3DS also renamed to Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy and released at North America on 9 December 2014 & at Europe on 11 December 2014. Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, & PlayStation 4 version released at Japan on 21 February 2019 and for world wide on 9 April 2019 with the Windows version. The game on iOS and Android got updated on 10 June 2022 for world wide.
Gameplay
The game split into 2 modes, Trial mode and Investigation mode. And at any time you could access your Court Record, where your Evidence and Profiles are stored with more detailed information.
Trial mode where you defend your client on court trial.
- Health Bar: Your health represented by a blue health bar. Depending the risk involved, you'll lose more health on each mistake you made and you could see how much you'll lose by the glowing section on the bar. Once you lost all your health, your client will be declared 'Guilty' and game over.
- Cross Examination: Every witness testimony must be examined, either by pressing certain statement to get more information or presenting evidence to contradicting statement. Pressing generally safe from penalty until told otherwise and presenting wrong evidence or presenting at wrong statement will result on getting penalized.
Investigation mode where you looking around various places to gather evidences for next day trial.
- Examine: This mode allowing you to examine your surrounding (a.k.a background) to gather hint or get new evidence.
- Talk: Sometimes there's people on the area you're visiting and you could talk to them to get more information. The conversation topic will had red checkmark if you already talked about that topic.
- Present: Sometimes you need to present evidence to people to get more hint and presenting unrelated evidence won't cost health like in trial mode.
- Psyche-Locks: Psyche-Locks is your ability to detect people when they are lying or trying to hide something. Present the Magatama to the person to attempt breaking the lock followed by presenting evidence or clues to uncover the truth. Successfully breaking the Psyche-Lock will regain 50% of your health. If you running low on health, you automatically stop the process of breaking the Psyche-Lock and return to investigation with minimum amount of health.
