Harvest Moon Series

Harvest Moon is a farm simulation role-playing video game series created by Yasuhiro Wada and produced by Victor Interactive Software (acquired by Marvelous Entertainment in 2003, now Marvelous Inc.).
The main objective of the games is to rebuild a run-down old farm and turn it into a successful one.
Over a period of time the player tends to crops and livestock, befriends nearby townsfolk, and eventually (in some series) gets married and starts a family.

Q: Why there are Harvest Moon and Story of Season?

A: From 1996 to 2013, Natsume Inc. localizing the Bokujo Monogatari series in North America, known as Harvest Moon until Harvest Moon: A New Beginning.
In 2014, Marvelous Inc. announced that their latest installment would be localized by their American publishing brand Xseed Games.
However, due to Natsume Inc. keeping the rights to Harvest Moon name, the series published from Xseed Games had to change its name to Story of Seasons. Natsume took the opportunity to start making their own Harvest Moon games.
